January Travel Update

The New Year brings more developments in travel during the Covid pandemic.  Scientists worldwide continue to discover more about Omicron and although more transmissible, it’s becoming apparent that, thankfully, this variant is milder than Delta.  The Government, therefore, have decided to change the rules and relax some of the testing requirements as a result.

If you’re planning a break whether it’s Ski-ing or some much needed Winter sunshine, read on for the latest advice and find out how you can easily order your tests from Rapid Health Test.

We’ll continue to keep you up to data on the changes.  Please keep an eye on our social pages for news or check back on our website for answers to your questions.

What happens now?

We now have these new guidelines:

  • If you are asymptomatic and have a positive Lateral Flow Test, you are no longer required to confirm this with a PCR test, but must self isolate immediately.  Report this in the normal way and you will be contacted by Test and Trace so your contacts can also be traced.
  • If you have symptoms of Covid you should stay at home and self isolate and take a PCR test.  You must stay in isolation until you receive your result
  • If you are fully vaccinated you can do a Lateral Flow test within two days of travel back to England from abroad.  If you are positive, you can book a free PCR test.
  • If you are non or partially vaccinated, you need to book a Day 2 and Day 8 PCR test.

What do I need to do before I travel?

From the UK (Pre-Departure):

Check the country you are visiting. If you need ‘Fit to Travel’’ tests, you can book your Pre-Departure Tests here

What do I need to do after I arrive in the UK?

If you are Vaccinated:

  • You will be required to do a Lateral Flow Test.  If this is positive you can order a free PCR test to confirm.
  • You can book your Day 2 test here

If you are Partially or Unvaccinated:

  • You still need a Day 2 and a Day 8 PCR test and to isolate for 10 days.
  • Book your Day 2 & Day 8 tests here

These tests need to be purchased before you travel.  You can make an appointment at our Truro Clinic in Cornwall or do your PCR test at home. Book your Day 2 test here

Don’t forget to complete your Passenger Locator Forms before returning to the UK. This will be sent to you automatically once you place your order for the Day 2 Lateral flow test with us.
